Autumn, Embers & the North Series
November 2023

This series began with the leaves I collected while living in Germany. During my travels throughout Europe, I found myself drawn to the intensity of Autumn - forests shifting into deep reds, copper, rust, and crimson, with fallen leaves gathering like fragments of another season. Those landscapes stayed with me long after I left. As I painted, the imagery began to take on several layers. The colors and organic forms brought me back to the ancient stories of the North, where forests, fate, transformation, and the forces of nature are woven through Norse mythology.

These nine paintings are not literal representations of those stories. They explore their atmosphere - the power of nature, the beauty of impermanence, and the feeling that something ancient is moving just beneath the surface. Red became the thread connecting them all, carrying both the warmth of autumn and the elemental force of the myths that inspired me.

In the Nude Series
June 2023

There's something about the human figure that never stops being interesting to me. I love the combination of movement, shape, vulnerability, and strength than can exist all at once in one body. In this series, I'm less interested in creating a perfect representation of a person and more interested in capturing the feeling of the figure. The curves, the gesture, the spaces when things. Sometimes a body is recognizable, and sometimes it becomes something more abstract.

Abstract-Figurative Works

Spring Series
April 2023

Spring always feels like the world has decided to turn the volume back up. After months of muted colors and bare branches, everything suddenly becomes green, pink, yellow, and completely unreasonable about growing. This series is my response to that energy. Loose, colorful, organic shapes and the feeling of being outside after winter. These paintings aren't about painting flowers or landscapes as much as they are about that unmistakable feeling of spring arriving.
Good-Gravy Series
The Good-Gravy Series came out of a particularly dumb two-week experience with COVID, when my brain apparently decided it was on an extended vacation. These paintings became a visual record of that strange combination of frustration, exhaustion, fog and the occasional glimpse of hope. They are as messy as my thoughts were. Some days felt like progress, some felt like absolutely nothing. And, sometimes the best description of the whole this really is: good gravy.

Abstract Works

Too Hot Series

Some days are simply too hot. The colors get louder, everything feels a little more intense, and even standing still feels like work. This series grew from that kind of summer energy. Bold color, heat, movement, and a little bit of sensory overload. These paintings aren't trying to be quiet. They are the visual equivalent of walking outside and immediately thinking, "Yep, too hot."
Summer Series
Summer has its own particular rhythm. Long days, warm evenings, outdoor adventures, water, travel, and that feeling that you should probably stay outside a little longer. This series is about that freedom and energy. I'm drawn to the colors and shapes that show up when everything is fully alive, and I want these paintings to carry some of that carefree feeling with them.

Autumn Adventure Series

Autumn is probably the season I have the biggest challenge leaving alone. I'm drawn to the colors, the changing landscape, and especially the feeling of being somewhere new and noticing everything around me. This series grew from travel, wandering, and reminiscing those moments. The paintings are less about documenting specific place and more about capturing the feeling of an autumn adventure in the eastern France countryside.

Abstract Fall

Fall is full of shapes and colors that almost seem designed for an abstract artist.  Leaves become layers of color, branches become lines, and the ground becomes its own collection of patterns. In this series, I'm taking those familiar pieces of autumn and pulling them apart, exaggerating them, and putting them back together in my own way. You may recognize the season, but you won't necessarily recognize the landscape.

Space Park

Space Park started with the idea of imagining a place that doesn't really exist. Part landscape, part dream, part somewhere I would absolutely like to visit. I love creating environments that feel comfortably strange - familiar enough to recognize and strange enough to make you wonder where you are. This piece is less about outer space or an actual park and more about creating a little world of my own. Oddly enough, six months after painting this - COVID-19 put a new perspective on having a space park.

Mood Series
Sometimes I start painting without a particular subject in mind. I just know what I'm feeling. The Mood Series is about that process. Color, shape, texture, and movement become a way of translating an emotion without having to explain it. These paintings don't necessarily tell you what happened. They are more about the feeling that was left behind.
